  • Overview

    The Learning Designer will partner with Subject Matter Experts from departments across Oticon, Inc. to create high-value training programs for our employees and customers (hearing care professionals).

    Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Development, the successful person in this role will apply adult learning theories and instructional design methodology to design effective experiences that target learning objectives, improve performance and deliver business results.

    This role is based in Somerset, NJ. It is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to make a significant difference in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with Subject Matter Experts to identify performance requirements. Determine which issues can be resolved with training and which should be resolved using other interventions.
    • Use tested instructional design theories, practice and method to create training curricula for Oticon customers and employees around products, audiological acumen, sales excellence and relationship management.  
    • Establish achievable training project plans with realistic timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and execute according to plan.
    • Design presentations that Field Trainers will use in training customers on new and existing products, leveraging techniques such as active learning, storytelling, polling, games etc to drive engagement.
    • Develop exercises, role plays and other activities that enhance the learning process.
    • Create CEU-eligible training materials and CEU application for submission to certifying boards.
    • Develop and maintain materials to support new hire onboarding for various employee groups.
    • Measure the effectiveness and impact of learning solutions, and use the data to continuously improve our learning solutions.
    • Organize updates to existing learning materials for the continuous improvement of course content and program delivery techniques.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelors degree in a related field required. Advanced degree in Instructional Design or CPLP strongly preferred

    • Prior experience developing sales training within the medical field strongly preferred

    • Minimum 5 years of experience with content creation or technical writing. Work samples will be requested during the interview process

    • Well-versed in adult learning theory and experience with its application in a corporate environment

    • Experience in offering training in multiple settings including but not limited to: instructor-led, online, video-based, podcasts, etc.

    • Strong communicator, both in writing and spoken communications

    • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time

    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially PowerPoint, preferred

    • Proficiency with course authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate or iSpring Presenter preferred
