  • Overview

    Responsible for all aspects of training and education provided to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Indian Health Services (IHS) customers. These activities include, but are not limited to: developing, customizing and preparing products and sales excellence training; collaborating with other Oticon marketing, audiology, learning, product development and research staff; creating Continuing Education Unit (CEU) application; and presenting at local, regional, corporate and national seminars for the Government Services customers. This individual will also partner with the National Sales Manager, Government Services to coach Account Managers on achieving sales excellence by adopting the Sales Visit Model.

    Through best-in-class training and education for customers, the Manager of Government Services Training and Education will help position Oticon as a leader in the hearing healthcare industry for the Government Services sector. 

    This position can be performed from a remote location or at Oticon, Inc. headquarters in Somerset, NJ.

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with internal stakeholders to organize and create/ customize training curricula for Government Services customers and Account Managers around products, audiological acumen, sales excellence and relationship management.  
    • Create new presentations, or customize existing presentations that Government Services Account Managers will use in training customers on new and existing products. Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions to educate Account Managers on the best way to convey the Oticon story in their presentations.
    • Develop and lead 5-6 national seminars per year, including creating program theme and agenda, and working with all stakeholders to finalize agenda topics and flow.
    • Personally deliver presentations at local, regional, online and national training/seminars and conferences.
    • Create CEU-eligible training materials and CEU application for submission to certifying boards.
    • Conduct ride-alongs with each Account Manager (5 Account Managers in total) once per quarter to provide coaching on sales excellence and product knowledge.
    • Establish achievable training project plans with realistic timelines, milestones, and deliverables to support product launches for the Government Services, and execute according to plan.
    • Partner with the Government Services Management Team on business planning sessions, and develop learning strategies and customer-specific content that aligns with each account’s needs.
    • Measure the effectiveness and impact of learning solutions, and use the data to continuously improve our learning solutions.
    • Extensive travel (up to 80%) required to participate in internal/external workshops and seminars to support the Government Services Account Managers.
    • Communicate with customers and Oticon staff within the following standards:

     

      • Voice-mail and E-mail returned within 1 business day.
      • Expense reports and special information requests sent within 7 business days.
      • Ride-along reports submitted within 7 business days.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Audiologist with 5+ years’ experience and a strong clinical background in hearing aid dispensing
    • Familiarity with the Sales Visit Model, including practical experience in using the tool to drive sales excellence
    • Possesses a broad and comprehensive knowledge of Oticon products, audiological philosophy and supporting evidence
    • Solid understanding of Government Services customers in VA, DoD, and IHS Clinics including unique needs, pressures, and priorities that influence ordering (buying) decisions; familiarity with products, claims, and supporting evidence used by competitors in Government Services
    • Solid understanding of the technical and clinical aspects of hearing aid technology and how differences can be observed in a clinical environment
    • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
    • Proven experience with public speaking and able to confidently present to large groups
    • This position also requires excellent verbal communication skills with colleagues, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to work independently.
